George Soros is one of the most successful investors of all time and a very unique type of philanthropist. In his book, The Alchemy of Finance, he discusses his theory of reflexivity and his approach to investing. His theory of reflexivity is based on the idea that not only are people's perceptions affected by the markets, but the markets are also affected by people's perceptions. But this alone is hardly somethings that one individual can claim as their personal intellectual achievement. Perhaps there is more to his theory, but if there is, he doesn't address it in this book. Unfortunately, the Alchemy of Finance provides no useful advice for investors interested in emulating Soros. It actually makes it seems like Soros himself doesn't even know the secret to his own success.
