In The Economics of Public Issues, Miller collects a broad set of case studies dealing with the economic consequences of public policies. Every example ends with the conclusion that a libertarian approach produces the most favorable results. Although it is often used as a textbook for college courses, it is much lighter reading than a typical textbook. There is no math and very little quantitative analysis. The arguments are primarily based on qualitative analysis, but are nonetheless become quite convincing after the unintended consequences are clearly illustrated. This is a must-read for anyone who wants to make an educated judgement about public policy, including anyone who votes!
