Getting Things Done is one of the most highly-regarded books on personal productivity. It explains a very practical approach to organizing your life with a system of lists, folders, and other simple devices. The general idea is to capture all of your responsibilities into a trusted system so that you do not have to stress yourself out trying to remember everything you need to do. The other major piece of advice is to focus on entering small actionable steps into your system rather than large daunting tasks. In this way, it is always clear whether you can perform the next action or not. The book also gives many specific tips for how to implement this sort of system effectively. However, the book still felt very repetitive and probably could be summarized effectively in 10 pages without losing anything substantial. Regardless, the advice is very sound and is definitely worth considering. Reading the long-winded book will give you more time to contemplate the important points contained within it.
