This book provides a good introduction to the basics of photography. Concepts are illustrated with example photographs that show a technique or a comparison of different possible camera settings. First it covers the triangle of photography: aperture, exposure time, and ISO. It then goes onto cover lighting, depth of field, techniques like panning, and devices like filters and polarizers. The author provides some quirky ways to remember useful points like where to take your light-meter reading, but stays away from highly technical calculations. As the books focus is on exposure, it doesn't spend as much time on understanding the artistic aspect of knowning what looks good, but it does give some general ideas like which parts should be in focus to guide the eye.
